Riding the Street Car on St. Charles Avenue can be very dangerous in New Orleans. The times-picayune reports:

A stray bullet struck a woman as she was stepping off a St. Charles streetcar over the weekend, New Orleans police said. The 25-year-old was hit in the hip. The shooting happened at St. Charles Avenue and Erato Street just before midnight Saturday (June 21). The intersection is home to several popular businesses, including a Popeyes, a Wendy’s and Emeril’s Delmonico.  An initial notification from NOPD shortly after the shooting said the woman’s condition was unknown.Police provided no other details about the shooting and gave no suspect information.

It was one of two shootings reported within 30 minutes and one mile each other.The streetcar shooting was reported at 11:50 p.m., and a second shooting that wounded two men, ages 23 and 27, occurred in the 2700 block of Danneel Street at 12:12 a.m., according to a brief summary provided by NOPD. Initially, police said a man was shot in the abdomen and his condition was unknown. The nature of the second person’s injuries was unclear.
